Bahrain is set to host international air show

The first Bahrain International Air Show will be held in January under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad. An agreement in this respect was signed yesterday with British Farnborough Company on the sidelines of Paris Air Show.

Civil Aviation Affairs Under-Secretary Captain Abdulrahman Al Gaoud sealed the deal with Farnborough chief executive officer for air shows Shaun Ormrod.

The landmark show will be held at Sakhir Airbase between January 21 and 23.

Royal Air force Commander Brigadier Shaikh Hamad bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Ambassador to France Nasser Al Balooshi, Royal Private Air Wing Commander Brigadier Mohammed Bahussein Al Musallam, Gulf Air chief executive Bjorn Naf and international media representatives were present.

Captain Al Gaoud paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad, Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa for their directives to turn Bahrain in a global hub for such high-profile exhibitions as a catalyst to attract foreign investments.

The exhibition will provide high-quality services for leading companies, businessmen and decision-makers.

The show will features 40 pavilions, each providing hospitality and information for visitors and companies exhibiting their jets. A royal suite for VIP guests and visitors will also be set up.

Many US and British companies have already confirmed their participation.

These include particularly Rolls-Royce, Sikorsky Aircraft Company and Bell.

Contacts have been established with French, Russian and Chinese firms to attract them to the show.

The event is expect to attract up to 5,000 visitors daily.
